I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Addiction Counselor. I have been in the field since 2012 and have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient/residential, outpatient, private practice, as well as detox/withdrawal management. I’ve also spent about a year living in West Africa where I did volunteer counseling focusing on trauma, war/combat trauma, post-war adjustment and reintegration, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and gender-specific issues. I have a Master’s Degree from Regis University and I’m currently working on my PhD.
My clinical approach to working with clients centers around self-empowerment and regaining a sense of control over thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I focus a lot on boundaries and the role they play on an individual as well as relationship basis. Self-empowerment stems from learning and implementing healthy emotional and relational boundaries. This is so helpful in managing mental health issues and relationship distress, which is ultimately the goal. My areas of interest and expertise include substance abuse and addiction, relationship issues, parenting support, stress management, life transitions and lifecycle changes, self-esteem, depression, and anxiety.
