Surviving sexual abuse can leave deep emotional, physical, and psychological scars that affect every part of a person’s life. Individuals of all ages and backgrounds, children, teens, and adults, may carry feelings of fear, shame, guilt, or confusion long after the abuse has ended. These experiences can impact self-esteem, relationships, and the ability to feel safe or in control. Many survivors also experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, dissociation, or issues with trust and intimacy.
Read more about sexual abuse survivor therapy Therapy offers a compassionate space to begin healing. Westside Behavioral Care therapists work with sexual abuse survivors using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), trauma-informed CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and somatic techniques to help release trauma stored in the body. Some therapists also offer play therapy or art therapy for children and teens. Each therapist tailors their approach to the client’s pace and comfort, focusing on building safety, trust, and emotional resilience. Recovery is possible, and no one has to navigate this journey alone. Appointments are available in person across the Greater Denver Area, including Lakewood, Aurora, Broomfield, Greenwood Village, and Wheat Ridge, or through secure online therapy statewide. All of our therapists are in-network with Kaiser Permanente, and many are also credentialed with other insurance plans. You can browse available therapists by specialty, insurance, location, and age to find the right fit for your needs.
