Janet is a licensed professional mental health counselor (LPC). She is also a trauma specialist level II in Eye Movement Desensitization Reinstallation (EMDR) as well as a Certified Addiction Counselor level III (CAC III). She has extensive training and experience in individual therapy with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, substance abuse disorders, including dual diagnosis, sexual and domestic abuse survivors, grief and loss, women’s issues and other life altering events.
Janet’s therapeutic style includes a safe, emphatic, compassionate non-judgmental space to incorporate a strength based approach through rational emotive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness based practices. Janet has worked as a counselor in drug and alcohol residential treatment facilities with adolescents, adults and their families.
Janet received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado, majoring in Psychology. She received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Community Counseling.
She completed all required course work and supervised hours to become a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Certified Addictions Counselor level three and a level II EMDR therapist. These are the highest certifications that a therapist can obtain in these areas of specialization.
