Embracing the transformative power of counseling is not just a profession for me; it’s a vocation that I serendipitously stumbled upon during my career as a journalist.

Transitioning from telling the stories of others to supporting people in writing their own narratives has been an honor and privilege. My journey to becoming a counselor is rooted in a fundamental belief in the profound impact of the counseling process. Through my own therapeutic experiences, I’ve come to appreciate the significance of sitting across from another person and sharing my experiences—my fears, hopes, mistakes, successes, pain, and joy. The therapeutic relationship provides a sanctuary where we can slowly and thoughtfully delve into the depths, often uncomfortable aspects of our being, fostering both insight and compassion for our shared humanity. Brené Brown’s words beautifully encapsulate this journey: “Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

In my practice, I tailor interventions to individual client needs, drawing from a diverse array of modalities such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, play therapy, Polyvagal Theory, mindfulness, and self-compassion. I earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 2009 and a Masters of Science in Counseling from the University of Arkansas in 2015. Holding licenses as a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Colorado and Arkansas, I also serve as a Professional School Counselor in Colorado, bringing seven years of experience in the public school system.

Originally from Illinois, I’ve called Colorado home since 2020. Outside of my professional life, I find joy in the company of loved ones, revel in my role as an aunt, relish outdoor explorations, indulge my wanderlust, and, in true Millennial fashion, spoil my beloved canine companion. (And yes, humor is an integral part of my approach to counseling!)
